A man has been fined for throwing a cigarette at a police officer who offered him a lift home.
Owen Alexander, 27, was kicked out of Huntly Football Club on the evening of May 20 and was spotted by police “staggering towards them” at around 11.40pm.
Fiscal depute Lucy Simpson said: “Officers spoke with door staff at the football club who informed them the accused had been ejected and was not to be let back in.”
When officers approached Alexander they noted he was “extremely drunk” and “struggling to stand upright”.
Ms Simpson added: “He was offered a lift home but refused and informed officers it was his intention to go back in to the football club.”

When told he was not allowed back in, Alexander became verbally abusive, “threatening to assault them if they got in his way”. He was also seen to “throw a cigarette he’d been smoking” at one officer which “hit him on the shoulder”.
Alexander pled guilty to shouting, swearing and making threats, and culpably and recklessly throwing a cigarette towards the officer.
Defence agent Gregor Kelly said his client had been with a group of friends watching a darts tournament in Elgin earlier in the day before taking a bus to the football club.
He said: “It’s fully accepted in the sober light of day that Mr Alexander behaved in a very undignified fashion and caused a great nuisance to the officers involved.”
Sheriff Ian Wallace ordered Alexander, of Kingsford Road, Alford, to pay a fine of £750.
