A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder following an alleged robbery at an Aberdeen shop.
Joseph Bissett appeared in private at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday over the matter.
The 41-year-old faces a string of charges including assault to injury, danger of life, attempted murder and robbery.
He is also charged with two counts of possession of an offensive weapon, one of acting in a threatening and abusive manner and one of assaulting or impeding police.
Bissett, whose general address was given as Aberdeen, made no plea during the hearing and was remanded in custody.
The case was committed for further examination and he was expected to appear again within the next week.
It comes after police were called to the Nisa Local on Heathryfold Circle before 2.30pm on Thursday after receiving reports of an incident.
A shop worker required medical treatment for her injuries but police said they were not serious.
It happened minutes after an incident at the Premier shop on Marchburn Drive, during which a quantity of alcohol was allegedly stolen.
Police were later seen removing an item, wrapped in an evidence bag, from the scene at the Nisa Local.
Detective Sergeant Stephen Beattie said: “I would like to thank those who assisted at the scene which enabled officers to take quick action.”
Just hours before the alleged incidents, police had warned Aberdeen businesses to ensure they have “robust security measures” in place following alleged robberies and attempted robberies in the city.
