A man has been cleared of beating a three-month-old baby, leaving the youngster with severe bleeding of the brain and permanent damage to his sight.
Kevin Edwards had been on trial at Aberdeen Sheriff Court accused of striking and shaking the child while his mother was out shopping one afternoon in August 2012.
The 33-year-old always denied the offence.
After six days of evidence, a jury of nine men and five women took just an hour and a half this afternoon to find him not guilty of attacking the child.
Outside court, Edwards said he was “relieved” about the verdict and that he wanted to begin rebuilding his life.
