Two men assaulted a man in Fort William High Street after celebrating completing the 94-mile West Highland Way, a court heard.
Paul Jolly, 39, of 41 Burte Court, Bellshill, Glasgow, and David Markey, 33, of 9 Knivysbridge Place, Bellshill, Glasgow, pleaded guilty to the offence when they appeared at the Lochaber town’s sheriff court today.
They admitted assaulting Craig Cook by punching him on the head, knocking him to the ground and kicking him on his body on April 24.
Defence solicitor Diarmid Bruce said the pair had been drinking to celebrate completing the West Highland Way in five days to raise money for charity, when Mr Cook said “some inappropriate things”.
He said: “They acted in an incredibly foolish manner and are genuinely sorry for their actions.”
After hearing that there was a “degree of provocation” and that Mr Cook had not suffered any injuries, Sheriff Richard Davidson fined each of them £375.
