A man who had to be rescued from the roof of a burning building in Thurso has now been arrested in connection with the incident.
Fire fighters were sent to Bayview Terrace in the early hours of Tuesday morning after a blaze broke out in a first-floor flat.
Police reported that a man in his twenties had to be rescued from the roof as the flames raged below him.
He was taken to Caithness General Hospital in Wick after being treated by paramedics at the scene, although his injuries were not considered to be serious or life-threatening.
Police have today confirmed that as part of an “ongoing investigation”, the man has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with the incident.
“He will appear at Wick Sheriff Court from police custody this afternoon,” a spokesman for the force said.
He also appealed for any information about what happened.
“If anyone has information about the incident they are encouraged to contact Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111,” he said.
