A Buckie drug dealer ordered a large haul of cannabis to her pal’s home then warned her “it won’t just be me you’re dealing with” when she reported her.
Adeela Asif called her friend a “little rat” and a “grass” because the woman reported the 290g package of cannabis to officers.
Elgin Sheriff Court was told how the drugs, with a street value of up to £300, were bought by the then unemployed 20-year-old using inheritance money.
She had the intention of using some herself and selling the rest on.
Fiscal depute Emily Hood said Asif got the drugs delivered to her friend’s house in January last year.
‘That’s not even a threat…I’m being serious’
Miss Hood said: “When her friend advised she was not happy about that parcel being delivered there she was told ‘you have no idea how much it costs and some of it isn’t even mine, so it won’t just be me you are dealing with – and that’s not even a threat, I am being serious.’
“She then further contacted the complainer the next day and referred to her as a ‘mongol’, a ‘little rat’ and a ‘grass’
“That was in response to her reporting the package to the police.”
Jail is ‘first choice’
Asif, now a hotel worker, admitted being concerned in the supply of drugs, drug possession and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
Her defence agent Matthew O’Neill said she had been “self-medicating” with the Class B drug at a time when her mental health issues were proving “challenging”.
“She was not in employment but was able to make a purchase using an inheritance,” he said. “Clearly it was a foolish decision and one that her friend was not receptive to.”
Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood said he has given due consideration to handing her a custodial sentence.
He told Asif: “If people choose to deal in drugs then the starting point and first choice is usually one of jail and the only question in my mind is how long.
“The only thing that holds me back from that is your lack of record.”
He ordered Asif, of Hendry Terrace, Buckie, to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work and to be under supervision for two years.
