Police have launched a manhunt after a 61-year-old was attacked and stabbed more than a dozen times on an Aberdeen street.
The incident happened in the early hours of Thursday morning in the Park Street area of the city, close to Lemon Place.
A 61-year-old man sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
It is understood he suffered multiple stab wounds – more than a dozen.
Inquiries ongoing into incident
Police are treating the incident as attempted murder.
A spokesman said: “Police received a report of a 61-year-old man having been seriously assaulted in the Park Street area of Aberdeen in the early hours of the morning on Thursday, February 17, 2022.
“The man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment and inquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
A shock for community
Aberdeen City Council harbour and George Street councillor, Michael Hutchison, urged anyone with information to “support the police as fully as possible” with their inquiries.
He said: “I am surprised to hear about what has happened and it’s certainly not in keeping for the area.
“I am shocked to hear the extent of what has been described.
“I do hope the victim makes a full recovery and that if people have seen anything I hope they will support the police as fully as possible.”
