A biker clocked at 97mph in heavy rain lost his licence and was fined £650 at Oban Sheriff Court today.
Peter Lorandffi, 35, 3 Newbury Close, Leamington Spa, pleaded guilty to speeding in a 60mph zone at Bridge of Orchy on the A82 Glasgow to Inverness road.
Lorandffi, who was banned from driving for six months, was caught by police as he drove through the area on August 1.
Fiscal Eoin McGinty said: “Police officers engaged in a speed check noticed it was raining heavily, the road surface was clearly wet with a lot of areas of standing water.
“Whilst engaged in the speed check they could hear a motorcyclist approaching travelling at excessive speed.”
Sheriff John Herald said: “At 97mph in bad weather, I would be failing in my public duty if I didn’t impose a disqualification.”
