A man has been jailed after he spat and kicked at cops as they tried to arrest him.
Oleg Muliarcik had to be removed from a police car and put into a van cage due to the level of aggression shown to officers outside a flat on Ythan Road, Aberdeen, last year.
Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard how a 54-year-old kicked, pushed and spat at cops during his journey to Kittybrewster Police Station.
Police eventually had to call back up to remove Muliarcik from a police car.
He pleaded guilty to three charges of assault and one of resisting arrest.
Cops had to call back up
Fiscal depute Emma Petersen told the court that on December 5 last year police attended at an address on Ythan Road and found Muliarcik in an “agitated” manner.
She said: “He pushed an officer and kicked him on the leg so was taken to a police vehicle.
“While sitting in the rear of the car he was acting aggressively and attempted to kick through the gap between the front seats of the car.
“Back up officers were then asked to attend and upon their arrival, the accused was asked to alight from the police vehicle – but he refused to do so.”
Muliarcik continued to act aggressively towards officers and was pulled out of the vehicle but continued to kick out at them.
Ms Petersen told the court that he fell to the ground as he continued to “lash out” at officers with his legs.
He was then put into a van and during the journey to Kittybrewster Custody Suite, Muliarcik spat at the door of the van, narrowly missing officers.
He also continued to kick out at the police.
‘He wishes to sincerely apologise to the officers involved’
Muliarcik’s solicitor said that his client has a number of previous convictions linked to alcohol abuse.
He said: “Mr Muliarcik wishes to sincerely apologise to the police officers involved.
“He does regret his behaviour on the night in question.”
Sheriff Lesley Johnston told Muliarcik that, in light of his previous convictions, she would have to impose a custodial sentence.
She sentenced Muliarcik, of Manor Walk Park, Aberdeen, to 80 days in prison.
