A Wick man who was dumped by his online flame sent her an explicit photo of his private parts in a bid to win her back.
Daniel Macrury, 34, admitted sending the indecent picture of himself to the woman when their online relationship fizzled out.
Wick Sheriff Court heard that the fledgling romance between Macrury and the woman began on an online dating site.
Fiscal David Barclay said that by the end of last year the couple was were chatting back and forth and Macrury suggested meeting up in person.
But the woman asked to take things “a little slower” as they had not been in contact long and “didn’t really know each other”.
The woman subsequently decided that she didn’t want to pursue matters and didn’t want any further contact with Macrury.
However, on January 21 this year, Macrury sent the woman a photo that showed him sitting on his living room sofa exposing his private parts.
Mr Barclay said: “The woman had not said or done anything to suggest that she wanted such conduct or communication.
“When spoken to by the police Macrury said that the relationship had cooled off and he was trying to do something to kick-start the romance but accepted that, clearly, he had done something completely inappropriate”.
He added that when Macrury “saw things ‘in the cold light of day’ he had accepted responsibility”.
‘Very much depressed and down’
Defence agent Sylvia Maclennan referred to a “helpful” background report on Macrury, who she said had been “making strides” to put things behind him and make a fresh start in Caithness.
She explained that the accused was “very much depressed and down” about finding himself in the criminal court system again.
Sheriff Mark O’ Hanlon made Macrury, of Battery Road, Wick, subject to a community payback order with supervision and ordered him to undertake 100 hours of unpaid work.
He was also placed on the Sex Offender Register’s for three years and made subject to a one-year non-harassment order banning him from contacting or approaching the woman.
