A man mooned householders through their window and scared villagers at a playpark by making a remark about killing children.
One bystander lifted a child over a fence to get them out Maximilian Roberts-Dineen’s way as he shouted and swore in an agitated manner.
Roberts-Dineen also shouted aggressively at a grandmother as she cared for her eight-week-old granddaughter and told onlookers that he would “have you both”.
Roberts-Dineen, 33, was not present at Tain Sheriff Court, where solicitor Rory Gowans entered a guilty plea to a single charge of threatening or abusive behaviour.
Fiscal depute Hilary Michopoulou told the court that the incident in Lochinver on December 18 last year began when residents noticed Roberts-Dineen standing on the footpath outside their garden “shouting, swearing and behaving in a threatening manner”.
Accused ‘shook his bare backside from side to side’
She said: “The accused then turned round pulled down his trousers and pants showing his bare backside to those in the house. He then shook his bare backside from side to side.”
After this Roberts-Dineen called a man in the street a “f***ing w**ker” and then shouted at a grandmother who was caring for her eight-week-old granddaughter in her garden.
“A short time after this witnesses were putting up the village Christmas tree in the play park one of them heard the accused shouting before they saw him,” Mrs Michopoulou told the court.
The fiscal depute described how the accused made threatening comments to two members of the public sitting at the village’s war memorial before turning his attention to a parent who was with their young son nearby.
Man’s ‘kill the kids’ comment
At this point a witness was so concerned that they “lifted the little boy into the playpark to protect him”.
A little while later Roberts-Dineen was heard to make a remark that “‘We’ or ‘they’ should ‘kill the kids’,” Mrs Michopoulou told the court.
Police were called and a visibly agitated Roberts-Dineen was arrested at his home shortly afterwards and taken to Burnett Road Police Station, shouting, swearing and making threatening comments.
Solicitor Rory Gowans told the court that there were concerns over his client’s mental health.
Sheriff Gary Aitken called for reports and deferred sentencing on Roberts-Dineen of Nedd, Lairg, until later this year.
