A topless man caught urinating in a city centre shop doorway hurled abuse at passersby and made sexual comments to police.
Marc McKenzie lives under a court order prohibiting him from being drunk or disorderly anywhere within a public space in Aberdeen.
But the 39-year-old breached that order and was lifted by police after he was found topless and “squaring up” to members of the public on Union Street on Saturday night.
He went on to hurl sexual remarks and abusive insults at police officers too, Aberdeen Sheriff Court was told.
Fiscal depute Kiril Bonavino said police officers came across McKenzie as they patrolled Union Street at around 9pm on Saturday night.
Police heard shouting and turned their van around only to see McKenzie relieving himself in the doorway of newly-opened bike shop Evan’s Cycles.
‘Squared up’ to public
“They further saw him take his jumper and T-shirt off, leaving his upper body fully exposed,” the fiscal said. “They then saw him shouting incoherently to members of the public and throwing his arms in the air and squaring up to them.
“He was smelling strongly of alcohol and his speech was slurred.”
After McKenzie was arrested he hurled a barrage of vile abuse at police officers from within the police van and later at Kittybrewster custody suite.
‘Look at the state of her’
“He was warned about his behaviour and then made sexual comments to another officer saying ‘I wouldn’t put my d*** in her’ and ‘look at the state her’.”
McKenzie, of Cornhill Court, Aberdeen, appeared from custody and admitted breaching his anti-social behaviour order and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
Defence agent John McLeod said his client was “desperate for help with his alcohol problem”.
“His defence is he has, you might gather reading between the lines, a massive drink problem.
“He was given a community payback order then later remanded so he has had no help since the order was given.
“This is no life for anybody.”
‘It’s a tough ask…’
Sheriff Philip Mann agreed it was important McKenzie be given a chance to access help and so spared him jail and granted his bail.
“I think it would be wrong to send you to custody today without giving you that opportunity,” he added. “But you have got to understand that if you behave like this again before this review you have got no hope.
“I realise it’s a tough ask, but you can only do what you can do.”
He called for background reports and deferred sentencing until next month.
