A man who was arrested over a bail breach has been caught in a police cell with more than £300 worth of cocaine.
Daniel Robertson was snared by officers on Sunday night when his heavy breathing gave away that he was hiding under a bed after he had breached a bail order.
While Robertson was kept in custody at Kittybrewster Police Station officers spotted him acting suspiciously on CCTV and went to inspect his cell.
Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard police found him with 16 wraps of cocaine and a pipe.
He was also found with one additional wrap of cocaine in his belly button.
The drugs were worth £320.
Robertson’s solicitor told the court that his client had “secreted” the drugs within his person in order to get them into the cell.
Accused had cocaine in belly button
Fiscal depute Lewis Devoy told the court that at around 11pm on Sunday night police checked the CCTV showing Robertson’s cell where their “attention was drawn to the accused”.
“A search of the accused within his cell found him to be in possession of a pipe, a yellow lighter and 16 grams of cocaine,” he said.
“Due to concerns that he had consumed some of the drugs prior to the search he was conveyed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
“A further wrap of was found in his belly button.
“The substance was subsequently tested and found to be cocaine.”
Robertson pleaded guilty to being involved in the supply of a controlled drug while in police cells at Kittybrester Custody Suite on Great Northern Road.
Solicitor told court accused had concealed drugs
Defence agent Alex Burn said Robertson, who works in waste management, had bought the drugs for himself and his partner.
“They were going to consume them that night, but he was arrested”, he said.
Mr Burn also confirmed for the court that Robertson had managed to get the cocaine in the police cell by concealing them within his person.
Sheriff Morag McLaughlin deferred sentence on Robertson, of Great Northern Road, Aberdeen, in order for a criminal justice social work report and a restriction of liberty order assessment to be carried out.
