A woman who attacked her boyfriend with an animal cage and sprayed an aerosol can into his face has been given a chance to behave.
Kiera Hussain, 23, appeared in the dock at Aberdeen Sheriff Court and admitted becoming agitated after her partner woke her up while she was dozing in his flat.
She then attacked him with the side of an animal cage and sprayed an aerosol can in his face.
Hussain’s solicitor told the court that the relationship between the couple has “persisted” despite the attack.
Accused bit partner after he put her in bearhug
Fiscal depute Sean Ambrose told the court that at around 9.40pm on January 18 this year an argument had started between Hussain and her partner after he woke her up.
He said: “The accused left the room and picked up the side of an animal cage and struck the complainer with it on the side of the body.
“The complainer managed to bear hug the accused and stop the assault and she bit him on the right arm.
“The accused then grabbed an aerosol can from the bedroom and struck the complainer with it before spraying it into the face of the complainer.”
Police then attended at the flat on Aberdeen’s Union Street and found Hussain’s boyfriend in a “distressed state”.
She was arrested and taken to the Kittybrewster Police Station.
Hussain pleaded guilty to one charge of assault against her partner by striking him with a cage, biting him and spraying an aerosol can towards his face.
‘You need to be of good behaviour’
Defence agent Ian Woodward-Nutt told the court that there had been “no further incidents” between the couple, who have managed to patch things up.
He added: “She suffers from mental health issues and Miss Hussain had not had any support for these issues in some time.”
Sheriff Edward Gilroy told Hussain: “You have issues that could be supported by the social work department.
“They will assist you but you need to be of good behaviour as well.”
Sheriff Gilroy gave Hussain, of Pitmedden Terrace, Aberdeen, a period of six months to be of good behaviour.
