Three people will stand trial this summer over claims they allowed a pair of American bulldogs to kill two other dogs, as well as attack their owners.
Kano and Mist are alleged to have killed a cockapoo and a shih tzu in two separate attacks in Portsoy and Aberdeen.
It’s alleged Kano and Mist fatally injured a cockapoo Ollie while they were out of control and off a lead while being looked after by a 15-year-old boy.
That offence is alleged to have happened on July 10 last year on Target Road in Portsoy.
Anthony Quantrell, 29, and Megan Middleton, 22, both deny allowing a dangerously out of control dog, under the care of a child and off its lead, to attack Ollie in a public place.
The charge against them also states that Kano and Mist, while untethered, repeatedly bit five-month-old Ollie on the body, fatally injuring him.
Ollie’s female owner was also bitten and injured, the charge alleges.
Shih Tzu also killed in alleged attack
Just over two months later, Kano is alleged to have attacked and killed a shih tzu called Rocky “seizing it in its jaws”.
Little Rocky was being walked by a 13-year-old boy on Ferrier Crescent in Aberdeen on September 24, last year, when he was fatally wounded too.
That charge states that Joanne Quantrell was in charge of Kano at the time and he was untethered and out of control. It’s alleged Kano repeatedly seized Rocky in its jaws and fatally injured him.
It’s also alleged Quantrell repeatedly failed to get Kano under control and that he bit the 13-year-old boy to his injury.
Quantrell is also said to have been injured at that time.
The 49-year-old, of Ferrier Crescent, denies the offence.
She’ll stand trial alongside her co-accused, Anthony Quantrell and Megan Middleton, both of Campbell Crescent, Portsoy, next month.
The trio were not present when the case called at Banff Sheriff Court today but a solicitor confirmed their not guilty pleas were maintained.
