An Aberdeen domestic abuser has been locked up after subjecting his former partner to a series of violent attacks over the course of eight months.
Jamie Will kicked, bit and stood on his former girlfriend, leaving her bruised and terrified on multiple occasions.
The 24-year-old also bombarded her with threatening texts.
Fiscal depute Andrew McMann told Aberdeen Sheriff Court about a number of abusive incidents that took place between July 2021 and February 15 this year.
In July 2021, Will sent a series of threatening text messages to the woman, including pictures of her personal items with threats to burn them.
The fiscal added: “He said that he was annoyed as he had to be up early in the morning for college.
“He then proceeded to punch her on the left side of her face, which left her with a large bruise.”
Just three months later during another argument on King Street in Aberdeen he bit the woman on the nose after claiming she was being “disrespectful”.
‘Put her in a head lock’
On September 29, he tried to grab her mobile phone and the pair argued about who owned the device, before he violently assaulted her.
Mr McAnn said: “The accused became more aggressive and repeatedly ran at the woman while shouting at her through gritted teeth.
“The complainer laughed at him which angered him and resulted in him biting her on the nose causing it to bleed.”
On February 15, the pair were out drinking together when they got into an argument in the early hours during which he stood over her and slapped her in the face.
She attempted to walk away but he put her in a headlock, pushed her to the ground and repeatedly stood on her.
Her phone fell out of her pocket, he picked it up and threatened to drop it down a drain.
Police were called but Will resisted arrest, struggled violently with two officers and kicked out at the police vehicle.
Will pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic abuse and a further charge of resisting, obstructing or hindering police on Crooked Lane, Aberdeen.
‘Utterly abhorrent’
Defence agent Liam McAllister said his client’s behaviour had been utterly abhorrent and disgusting but claimed he is “not beyond help”.
He said: “It’s disgusting and everyone in court will be rightly disturbed to hear the level of violence between this couple in a few isolated incidents over the course of a year-long relationship.”
He referred to the assaults as “drunken incidents” but said Will wants to break his chain of violence with professional help.
Sheriff Lesley Johnston said his domestic offending has increased and previous support that was offered has not had an impact on his offending so far.
She jailed Will, of Jute Street, Aberdeen, for a total of 160 days.
