A man caught speeding in his Jaguar at 100mph on the A96 had two children in the car.
Police were following another speeder when they spotted Kenneth Mackay overtaking in his silver Jaguar, reaching speeds of 100mph.
When they stopped his car they discovered two child passengers as well as an adult passenger.
Mackay, 31, appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court to plead guilty to a single charge of careless driving in relation to the incident on July 5 2021.
Fiscal depute Karen Poke said that officers in an unmarked vehicle had been carrying out speed checks on the A96 at Brackley between Nairn and Inverness when their attention was drawn to a Mercedes travelling at speed.
A96 speeder was doing 100mph
However, as they attempted to catch up with the vehicle, they spotted Mackay’s silver Jaguar carrying out an overtake manoeuvre and reaching speeds of 100mph.
When they stopped the vehicle there were two child passengers, and an adult passenger with Mackay at the wheel.
Ms Poke said: “It was light, with light rain. The road surface was wet and the traffic volume was light.”
Solicitor Ken Ferguson for Mackay, of Dornoch, said: “Given his high speed and the schedule of previous convictions I acknowledge that he has passed the threshold where disqualification is inevitable.”
Sheriff Eilidh MacDonald said: “Because of your history of poor driving previous convictions, points on your licence and the high level of speed here a disqualification is what I am going impose.”
She banned Mackay from the roads for 145 days and fined him £640.
