A man who went to evict a prostitute from a flat in Aberdeen was stabbed in a violent confrontation with two naked women, a court has heard.
Mandy Nicol and the sex worker were unclothed when the vicious knife attack happened in West North Street on the afternoon of July 12 last year.
The man required hospital treatment after Nicol rained several “piercing blows” down on his head and arms.
Aberdeen Sheriff Court was told the victim had agreed to help his friend remove the women from the flat after the pair had overstayed their welcome.
Fiscal depute Carol Gamme said Nicol, 36, arrived there with the sex worker – her former co-accused – at 1.30am.
Felt ‘uncomfortable’ letting women in
She said: “The witness heard a knock at his door and was met by the accused, who he did not know, and her former co-accused, who he did know.
“He allowed both females entry but he felt uncomfortable doing so.
“He returned to his bedroom leaving them in the living room.
“The pair remained at his address overnight leaving briefly at 11.30am and returning shortly after, at which point he believed they were under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
“Their being there made him very uncomfortable.”
‘I’m going to stab you’
When the women were still there at 3pm, he called a friend and asked him to remove the ladies from his home.
The friend went in alone and discovered both women naked in the living room.
“They refused to leave,” the fiscal added. “He dialled 999 for emergency services and the accused jumped on him and tried to grab his phone.
“He held on to the phone and could hear the operator on the line.
“He felt several blows to his head and heard her say she was going to stab him.
“He then felt piercing blows to his head and arm and noticed he was bleeding.”
The wounded man fled the scene and was tended to by police and later taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
His cuts and stab wounds were treated with glue and steri-strips.
Nicol, meanwhile, had left the scene but got involved in another violent confrontation outside her own home, on Urquhart Road, 30 minutes later.
Neighbours heard a “commotion” in the stairwell and found Nicol “screaming uncontrollably and scattering items from a carrier bag” around the communal area shouting about having lost her keys.
Neighbours tried to help her find the keys but were hit with a barrage of abuse and threats of violence.
Nicol told one woman she would “slash” her before pushing her down the stairs and striking her in the face with a door, the court heard.
Nicol admitted one charge of assault to severe injury and robbery and another of assault to injury.
Her defence agent Alex Burn said she had become involved with the sex worker and had taken drugs and alcohol from her, which left her with “little recollection” of the incident.
“The sex worker invited the accused to attend the address,” he said. “During the course of their time there she was given drugs by her former co-accused and consumed alcohol.
“But at some point this man turns up, the pair are naked when he arrives and there’s a dispute that occurs.
“As a consequence of the medication she is taking she has only some recollection and cannot remember everything. But it did escalate.”
‘An unsightly incident’
With regards to her violent outburst in her own stairwell, Mr Burn added: “When she can’t find her keys the tenant from upstairs goes through her belongings with her and she then believes they have stolen her key.
“Other neighbours then got involved. This was an unsightly incident that occurs at her own property. She has some hazy recollection of what happened.”
He suggested she be given the chance to partake in a drug treatment and testing order, but Sheriff Ian Wallace said custody was the only option given her record and the nature of the offences.
He jailed Nicol, a prisoner of HMP Grampian in Peterhead, for 33 months backdated to July last year.
