A man who had been banned from a city centre Tesco pleaded with staff to be allowed to buy groceries before hurling death threats when they refused.
Paulius Bendikus had been barred from Tesco Express on Union Street but went inside regardless, Aberdeen Sheriff Court was told.
Police were called to the incident, just before 6pm on February 7 this year, when the 36-year-old started threatening workers who confronted him.
‘I am coming for you’
Fiscal Tom Procter said: “Staff saw him entering and noted this as he was previously barred from the premises.
“They approached him and asked him to leave.
“He pleaded with them to let him make purchases but they continued to ask him to leave.
“After some to-ing and fro-ing the accused stated towards one member of staff ‘I’m going to kill you’ and ‘I am coming for you’ and ‘I have found you’.”
Police arrested the Lithuanian national shortly afterwards.
Bendikas, who appeared in the dock from custody, admitted a charge of threatening or abusive behaviour towards retail workers.
A not guilty plea to stealing from the same shop was accepted by the Crown.
Defence agent Bruce MacDonald said his client had issues with alcohol and is currently dealing with an “alphabet soup” of support groups.
“But, he is still drinking,” he added.
Sheriff Morag McLaughlin handed Bendikas, of Bloomfield Road, Aberdeen, a 12-month supervision order to help him address his issues.
