A man who carried out assaults on his partner over a two-year period has been ordered to carry out unpaid work.
Jordan Reid appeared in the dock and admitted attacking the woman on a number of occasions – including punching her and biting her on the lip.
Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard the 23-year-old also cut her with broken glass during a separate incident.
Reid, who was in a long-term relationship with the woman at the time, carried out the attacks between May 1 2019 and September 27 2020.
His solicitor said Reid “knows that his conduct is serious”.
Accused cut partner with broken glass
Fiscal depute Victoria Kerr told the court that during one incident in 2019 Reid had assaulted the woman at his grandmother’s house by seizing and punching her to the body before biting her on the lip.
On another occasion, Ms Kerr told the court that Reid assaulted the woman by cutting her arm with broken glass.
Reid pleaded guilty to one charge of engaging in a course of behaviour that was abusive to his partner.
Neil McRobert told the court that while his client had been in the relationship, the couple had “a number of issues involving both parties”, but that Reid also had an issue with “drunken jealously”.
He added: “Mr Reid accepts full responsibility and knows that the conduct is serious and was wholly inappropriate.”
Sheriff Morag McLaughlin described a social work report carried out prior to Reid appearing in court as “encouraging”.
She added: “Nevertheless I think supervision is the way to go here.”
Sheriff McLaughlin sentenced Reid, of Stonehaven Road, Nigg, to a community payback order with supervision for 12 months and ordered him to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work.
