A man has appeared in court after a £500,000 cannabis farm was discovered in Aberdeen.
Arunas Dirgela, 51, appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on two drug charges.
Dirgela is accused of breaking the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 by producing and supplying a controlled substance.
The large quantity of drugs, with an estimated street value of £520,000, were seized from the address and taken to Kittybrewster Police Office.
Remanded in custody
Appearing in court, Dirgela made no plea and was committed for further examination.
He was remanded in custody and is due to re-appear in court within a week.
Yesterday, Detective Sergeant Erika Griffiths said: “Taking drugs off the street is a priority for police and we will ensure the north-east remains a hostile environment for anyone looking to engage in criminality”.
Her comments came after an unrelated series of drugs raids on properties in Torry yesterday morning.
Four addresses at Balnagask Circle, Oscar Road, Morven Court and Farquhar Road were targeted after members of the community reported concerns to Police Scotland.
The intelligence-led operation was focused on what officers referred to as low-level or street-level dealers.
It led to a 29-year-old man being reported for alleged drugs offences and offensive weapons were also seized.
