A man has been jailed after being caught with cannabis worth more than £12,000 stashed throughout his home in Aberdeen.
Martin Milne, known as Wood, 42, was caught when police executed a search warrant at the Eday Crescent address he shared with his partner.
When officers attended on June 21 last year they traced Wood in the bathroom and he was detained while a “systematic search” of the address was carried out.
However, Wood immediately confessed that there were drugs in the home and that they had “nothing to do with his partner”.
Fiscal depute Brian Young told Aberdeen Sheriff Court police found “a number of jars and packages” containing the class B drug in the bathroom, bedroom, kitchen and living room.
‘What was recovered was a substantial quantity of the drug’
A number of mobile phones, a laminator, self-seal bags, stickers, containers and scales were also discovered.
Mr Young said: “The accused was interviewed, during which he spoke freely throughout and fully admitted being concerned in the supplying of cannabis.”
Two mobile phones were also seized and examined and were found to contain “messages indicative of the accused being concerned in the supplying of cannabis”.
A total of 680.2g of cannabis was recovered, with a maximum potential street value of £12,270.
Wood, of Eday Crescent, Aberdeen, pled guilty to being concerned in the supply of cannabis.
Defence agent David Sutherland said his client had never served a prison sentence previously.
‘I take the view that there is only one appropriate sentence’
He argued a community sentence with supervision would allow Wood to work with those supporting him already but on a more formal basis.
The solicitor added supervision would also help Wood address issues with his mental health and drug use.
Sheriff Graham Buchanan told Wood: “You have a previous conviction for being concerned in the supply of drugs.
“Much more recently, you have a conviction for cultivating or producing cannabis, which I take to be the growing of cannabis plants.
“You’ve now pled guilty to being concerned in the supply of cannabis, and what was recovered was a substantial quantity of the drug with a maximum value of £12,270.
“In these circumstances, I take the view that there is only one appropriate sentence and that is a sentence of imprisonment.
“This is a serious case and, when set against the backdrop of your record, leaves me with no option but to deal with your case by the imposition of a custodial sentence.”
He jailed Wood for 14 months.
