A drunk chef who threatened a member of the public and then punched and bit another man who tried to intervene has appeared in court.
Lewis Wilk was stumbling along the road when he encountered his first victim, who was getting in his car.
He made a fist and pulled his arm back as if to punch him before the second victim stepped in.
Wilk, 23, admitted charges of threatening or abusive behaviour and assault at Inverness Sheriff Court.
Fiscal depute Naomi Duffy-Welsh told the court that the incident occurred at 8.30pm on June 26 last year, when the first man spotted Wilk walking on Strathspey Avenue in Aviemore.
“He ignored him and entered his car,” said Ms Duffy-Welsh.
Drunk chef made fist gesture
At this point, Wilk walked in front of the car and went to the driver’s side, where he made a fist and pulled his arm back, gesturing towards the other man’s face.
The man tried to drive off, but Mr Wilk became more aggressive.
At this point, the driver’s family member appeared and asked Wilk to leave.
Wilk attacked him, punching him repeatedly to the head, causing them both to fall to the ground, where Wilk bit the man on the body.
Wilk was then restrained by his victim and bystanders and police were called.
Solicitor Patrick O’Dea, for Wilk, said his client was “thoroughly ashamed of himself”.
He said: “On the day in question he had been out drinking, which was not his habit.”
He said the part-time chef recalled that he had stumbled and fallen onto the man’s bonnet, inciting the incident.
“Mr Wilk does wish to apologise. Once he came to his senses he realised it was all his fault,” said Mr O’Dea.
Handing down a fine of £640 to first offender Wilk, of Clan Court, Aviemore, Sheriff Sara Matheson said: “This is a serious matter involving, as it does, a bite.”
