A driver has been fined and banned after admitting driver at 114mph on one of the north’s busiest roads.
Steven Keiro, 22, was tracked by police on patrol near Dalcross between Inverness and Nairn at around 11pm on July 20 last year.
Keiro, of 107 Cranmore Drive, Smithton admitted speeding at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday.
Fiscal depute Michelle Molley said that the section of road passes a number of driveways for residential properties and tracks to enter fields.
Defence solicitor Marc Dickson told the court that his client was an industrial radiographer – but had been restricted in his work because of a broken back suffered in October 2014.
He added that a driving licence was essential for Keiro’s work due to the extensive travelling needed.
However, Sheriff Derek Livingston disqualified Keiro from driving for seven months and fined him £400.
He said: “This is an extremely poor bit of driving on a piece of road which was passing through junctions and was poorly lit.
