A woman punched her 76-year-old husband in the face as he drove her home from the hospital in a row over booze.
Lee Kerr, lashed out as they drove along the A92 near Stonehaven when her husband said he planned to go out for a drink later that evening.
The 59-year-old was unhappy her partner was not going to stay in and look after her.
And, on a separate occasion, at their home on Croft Place, St Cyrus, Kerr threatened to smash their TV if her husband continued watching it and then pulled down a bookcase when he tried to read instead.
Fiscal depute Rebecca Thompson told Aberdeen Sheriff Court Kerr’s husband was driving along the A92 at around 6pm on June 18.
She said an argument broke out “regarding alcohol” and Kerr, who was in the passenger seat, began to move closer to her husband’s face.
Kerr told husband he ‘could not watch television’
Ms Thompson said: “The complainer pushed the accused back and forth and he dropped his speed.
“The accused then punched the complainer to the face, resulting in slight bruising.”
In a separate incident on June 20, Kerr’s husband woke up to find his wife not there and decided he would go for a cycle.
However, as he was getting ready, Kerr returned home and became “disgruntled” that her husband had planned to go cycling.
Ms Thompson said: “The complainer decided to remain at home to avoid an argument and decided to watch some television in the living room.
“The accused then entered the living room and initiated an argument with the complainer, telling him that he could not watch television and that if he attempted to watch television she would smash the TV.”
Kerr then picked up a remote control and threatened to throw it through the screen.
The man then advised he would read instead and made his way to the bookshelf.
‘You’re supposed to be looking after me’
Ms Thompson said: “The accused pulled the bookshelf and all its contents off the wall and onto the floor.”
She also pulled a walking stick and medals off the wall.
Kerr, who is also known as Leonard or Conn, and whose address was given in court papers as Seaton House, Aberdeen, pled guilty to domestically aggravated charges of assault to injury and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
Defence agent George Mathers explained Kerr had been getting a lift home from the hospital when the assault occurred.
He said: “He was talking about going out for a drink on his own that night and she lost her temper, saying ‘you’re supposed to be looking after me’.”
Mr Mathers said all the items thrown during the second incident had belonged to his client, including the medals which she had received through a group related to her suffering from arthritis.
He added Kerr’s husband is on the autistic spectrum and could be “very uncommunicative”.
Sheriff Eric Brown deferred sentence on Kerr for six months for her to be of good behaviour.
