With over 29 years of experience in policing, I know how forging meaningful relationships with local communities can reap rewards.
I began my career on the west coast of Scotland and have carried out various roles over the years.
I’ve been a Community Police Officer, Sergeant Instructor at the Scottish Police College, on the Violence Reduction Unit as well as the Marine Policing Unit.
Having worked at a number of police stations within Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, I have an in-depth knowledge of issues affecting the local communities.
I have recently taken up post as the Bucksburn Inspector, overseeing the Bucksburn Community Policing Team.
It’s made up of four dedicated sergeants and 24 constables.
Drugs, road traffic offences, anti-social behaviour
Having worked in Aberdeen for the last 10 years, I am fully aware of the unique challenges faced by the Local Policing Teams, the community, businesses and partners.
Throughout my career, I have been driven to deliver positive outcomes for the communities I’ve served, understanding their needs through meaningful and open dialogue.
This is something I and my team will continue to strengthen by regularly engaging with local residents, schools, businesses and elected representatives.
That could be at community council meetings or stopping us to speak while we’re out on the beat.
The Bucksburn Policing Team’s extensive experience allows us to analyse and formulate strategies for emerging crime trends such as acquisitive crime, drug misuse, road traffic crime and anti-social behaviour.
From my personal experience, more recently within my previous role in the Kittybrewster Problem Solving Team, people in local education and businesses want to see ‘bobbies on the beat’.
High visibility patrols
As a result, officers from the Bucksburn Community Policing Team will regularly carry out high visibility patrols in the area.
We’ll focus on providing public reassurance and engaging with people who intend to commit crime and anti-social behaviour.
As a community policing team, we rely on the public for information, therefore, I encourage anyone who has any concerns to contact us by telephoning 101 or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or by sending an email.
Lastly, may I take this opportunity to wish the local residents a happy and safe summer secure in the knowledge the Bucksburn Community Policing Team will work tirelessly to keep you safe.
