A woman was forced to call 999 when her ex-husband appeared in her garden and began banging on doors and trying to get inside.
George Thomson admitted threatening or abusive behaviour with a domestic aggravation following the incident on July 22 in Inverness.
Thomson, 56, declined legal representation and appeared on his own behalf to enter a guilty plea to the single charge at Inverness Sheriff Court.
Fiscal depute Shamielah Ghafar said: “The witness was within her kitchen washing dishes when a figure appeared at the window in her back garden.
“She recognised this individual as her ex-husband.”
Ms Ghafar said the woman then “entered a state of fear” grabbing her phone and running upstairs.
Thomson banged on the back door and tried the door handle before moving to the front door and doing the same.
The woman called 999 and police turned up, finding Thomson “heavily intoxicated” in the rear garden of the property.
Sheriff Peter Grant-Hutchison asked Thomson: “Do you have any idea how frightening that would have been for your ex-partner?”
‘This is the first time it has happened’
Speaking from the dock, he replied: “Well we have been separated for seven years and this is the first time it has happened.”
He explained that he had become frustrated with a family situation and said: “I got drunk and went to the door.”
The sheriff deferred sentencing for reports and placed Thomson, of Loch Flemington, near Inverness, on bail with a condition that he not enter the woman’s address.
