A career criminal who marched an “exceptionally vulnerable” disabled man to a bank machine and stole hundreds of pounds was today jailed for 38 months.
Dale Davidson’s victim was left “shaking and terrified” after being forced to hand over his PIN number on July 15, 2020.
The High Court in Glasgow was told Davidson threatened violence against the man, who requires a carer, before snatching £500 from the machine and breaking the bank card in two.
Sentencing him at the High Court, a judge told Davidson, 36, that a custodial sentence was “appropriate.”
Lord Young added: “You pled guilty to a single assault and robbery of £500 from the bank account.
“He is a man with significant disabilities who requires a carer in the community.
‘Wishes to radically change his life’
“You were aggressive to him at his own house and threatened him with violence and took £500 from his account without his consent.
“This was a crime against an exceptionally vulnerable man in his own home.
“He was terrified by you and he was found the next day by his carer scared and shaking.
“You have an appalling criminal record which includes nine for assault and robbery and you have served numerous prison sentences.”
Jonathan Crow QC, defending, earlier told the sentencing that Davidsons suffered a brain injury in 2011 which put him in a coma for two months.
He added: “Mr Davidson wishes to radically change his life as he has spent the majority of his life in custody – he wants to change that.”
Davidson, of Aberdeen, will be put under supervision for 12 months upon his release from prison.
