A driver who caused a serious crash on the A90 was later found to have more than three times the legal limit of a cocaine metabolite in her system.
Stacy Sewards, 35, rammed into the back of a Ford Fiesta on the A90 Blackdog to Ellon road causing the car to spin out of control and collide with a central reservation.
Thankfully, no one was seriously injured as a result of the crash.
Fiscal depute Christy Ward told the court that on the December 8 last year Sewards was driving behind the Ford Fiesta near Ellon.
Ms Ward said that the driver of the other car noticed that Seward’s vehicle was “very close” to her.
“The accused’s vehicle then ploughed straight into the back of the Ford Fiesta,” she said.
“The complainer then lost control of her car which spun in the road before striking the central reservation.
“The accused’s vehicle came to rest in the middle of a grass verge while the complainer’s car came to a stop in the middle of the dual carriageway.
“The vehicle suffered extensive damage as a result of the collision.”
Sewards was located nearby the accident by police who took her to Kittybrewster Police Station.
When tested, Sewards was found to have 162 microgrammes of the cocaine metabolite Benzoylecgonine per litre of blood in her system. The legal limit is 50mcg.
Sewards pleaded guilty to one charge of driving a car while exceeding the legal limit for a cocaine metabolite and a further charge of failing to maintain an adequate stopping distance with the car in front of her.
Accused handed interim driving ban
Due to Seward having a previous driving conviction, defence agent Sian Grant called for background reports to be carried out on her client.
Sheriff William Summers deferred sentence on Seward, of Western Road, Aberdeen, in order for a criminal justice social work report and a restriction of liberty order assessment to be carried out.
He also handed Sewards an interim driving disqualification until her sentencing.
