A drunken man pushed over a wheelie bin in an Aberdeen street before warning a woman “you’re in danger”.
Gary Main’s “disgraceful” behaviour in the busy street in broad daylight also included threatening to break windows.
During the tirade, the 37-year-old toppled a wheelie bin and vowed to do the same to one of his victims.
Main has almost no memory of the offence but believed he must have been assaulted earlier in the day after finding injuries on himself.
Fiscal depute David Rodger told Aberdeen Sheriff Court the incident happened at 5.15pm on September 20 2020 on Cattofield Place when a witness as him making threats towards her and another female.
‘He’s very remorseful’
Mr Rodger said: “The accused was standing in a residential street during daylight hours. Numerous members of the public were in the area.”
The court heard Main then “tipped up a wheelie bin” before approaching one of the women and saying “you’re next”.
He also warned: “You’re in danger.”
Main also threatened to break windows on one of the houses in the area.
He pled guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
Defence agent Debbie Ginniver said: “He was under the influence of both illicit substances and alcohol. He has longstanding issues with both and that is reflected in his record.”
‘You have an appalling record’
Ms Ginniver said her client had “little recollection” of the offence but after being arrested had noticed injuries on himself.
She added: “He is of the view that he must have been assaulted at some point during the day.
“He’s very remorseful about his actions.
“He’s now living a much more stable life and has been of good behaviour since late September 2020.”
Sheriff William Summers told Main, of Linksfield Road in Aberdeen: “Your behaviour was disgraceful and clearly distressing for the victims.
“You have an appalling record but I recognise what’s been said on your behalf, the rate of offending has slowed down significantly.”
He ordered Main to complete 75 hours of unpaid work as an alternative to custody.
