In June 2022, I returned to local policing as an Area Inspector, having spent most of my 22 years of policing within CID and Public Protection roles.

I welcomed the return to local policing and am delighted to be leading the Kittybrewster policing team.

I am looking forward to bringing my skills and experience back into a local policing context and using my knowledge to ensure we protect the most vulnerable in our communities from harm.

Since coming into the post, I have taken the opportunity to get out and about to see and support my team on the ground and meet as many of the members of the local community as possible.

This has given me valuable insight into the really positive and enthusiastic approach of my officers to make the community a safer place and target the long terms drivers for offending.

‘Please keep telling us your concerns’

Importantly this has also highlighted the need to work with all the other agencies whose work directly influences these outcomes and I will make every effort to ensure these bodies get the best information from my team to meet these objectives.

Kittybrewster is served by an enthusiastic team of sergeants and constables with varying degrees of service and experience.

While I too find myself saying that the bobbies are looking younger these days, I can reassure you that they understand the diverse nature of the communities on their beat and are eager to build on and forge new relationships to make the streets safer.

Each sergeant has a specific area of responsibility and as I build my team up to the required numbers, each will act as a single point of contact for people in the community to voice their concerns.

It is my intention to take a proactive approach to policing this area with dedicated patrols in areas where issues arise and by engaging with community events.

By speaking with members of the community we will undoubtedly obtain information that will assist us with tackling problems, so please keep telling us your concerns and giving us information that will help us meet your needs.

This highlights my most important point, as a community policing team we rely on public support for information, so can I please encourage anyone who has concerns or information to contact us on 101 or using the Contact Us form on the Police Scotland website.

If you are worried about giving your details, you can also report anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.

In addition, Fearless is a dedicated young person’s charity where you can get and give information about crime 100% anonymously.
