A man has admitted leaving a police officer scarred after sucker-punching her as she spoke to revellers outside a Peterhead nightclub.
Bannor Masson approached the officer from behind on the town’s Queen Street before punching her to the face in the early hours of the morning.
The cowardly 26-year-old then legged it, while his victim was left with a 1.5cm gash on her nose which had to be closed using surgical glue.
Masson, of Mormond Avenue, Fraserburgh, pled guilty to a charge of assault to injury and permanent disfigurement.
Masson handed himself in the next day
Fiscal depute Ruaridh McAlister told Aberdeen Sheriff Court the incident happened at 1.30am on December 5 last year.
He said: “Officers were speaking to members of the public outside a nightclub.
“While speaking, the accused approached from behind and threw a single punch, striking her to the face and causing her glasses to fall off and a cut across the bridge of her nose.
“The accused ran off.”
The injured officer was later taken to hospital and found to have a 1.5cm cut to the bridge of her nose which was closed with surgical glue.
Masson handed himself in at the police station the following day.
Sheriff Morag McLaughlin deferred sentence on Masson until next month for reports.
