The former music director of a top Aberdeen private school has been accused of sexually assaulting two pupils.
Peter Parfitt will stand trial later this year over the allegations, which are said to have happened while he was working at St Margaret’s School for Girls.
The 56-year-old, who joined the school in 2007, is alleged to have committed the offences on dates between 2012 and 2021.
The first accuses him of causing the girl “fear or alarm” by “repeatedly seizing hold of her and embracing her”.
A second charge states he carried out similar behaviour against another girl at the Albyn Place school, the oldest all-through girls’ school in Scotland.
Parfitt, of Carmont Cottages, Drumlithie, denies both charges against him.
He was not present when his case was called at Aberdeen Sheriff Court today.
However, his solicitor appeared on his behalf and asked for new dates to be set for trial.
Parfitt is due to stand trial in November.
Previously worked at English schools
Parfitt became musical director of the Aberdeen Bach Choir (ABC) in 2010. He previously held teaching posts in Winchester and director of music positions at schools in Hampshire, London and East Sussex.
He has also directed a number of choral and operatic societies and appeared with many others as a soloist.
He is an external examiner for the Oxford and Cambridge examinations board and the Scottish Qualifications Authority.
