Floral tributes have been laid at the scene where the body of an Aberdeen mum was discovered on fire at the weekend.
Jill Barclay’s body was found near a property opposite the roundabout at Dyce’s Stoneywood Road and Victoria Street.
The 47-year-old, who died around 3.30am on Saturday September 17, had been walking home from the Spider’s Web pub on Station Road.
Several bouquets, including sunflowers, have been left at the police cordon where officers remain, guarding the scene of crime opposite the roundabout.
A 22-year-old man, who was arrested elsewhere in Scotland and charged with the mum-of-two’s murder, is due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court today.
More than £7,000 has been donated to a crowdfunding gofundme page that was created to help the Barclay family with funeral costs.
It was launched by school mums Claire Carstairs and Gillian Gove, who were both friends of Jill and whose children are close friends with her six-year-old son and eight-year-old daughter.
At the time of publication, a total of 435 people have generously contributed £7,692 towards the appeal and posted tributes to the former Hazlehead Academy pupil.
One of her neighbours, Eugenia Marinou commented: “This has been the most dreadful news, we are terribly upset and so sorry to hear one of our neighbours has had their life cut short in such unimaginable circumstances.
“We are sending lots of heartfelt sympathy and support to Jill’s family and loved ones.”
Joshua Adams, who worked with the proposals engineer at the oil and gas firm Petrofac, said Jill’s “bubbly, likeable personality” made her an “absolute joy” to work with.
“She will be sorely missed,” he added.
Former coworker Pamela Duncan posted: “Jill was such a lovely and down-to-earth person and was so friendly to me when I worked with her briefly back in 2021.
“Thoughts are with Jill’s family at this difficult time.”
Police Scotland’s major investigation team are continuing to probe the circumstances surrounding Jill Barclay’s death.
Detectives have been examining CCTV footage collected from the BP garage on Wellheads Road, the Marriot Hotel opposite, and from the pub, which she visited before her death.
Investigators wearing forensic gloves have also been seen walking through Dyce Community Garden and searching bins along Victoria Street.
