A drunken brawl outside a Kingussie hotel landed a man in hospital for treatment to multiple fractures of his jaw.
At Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday, Callum Hilson, 19, of Flat 2, Main Street, Newtonmore, admitted assaulting Scott Mackenzie to his severe injury by kicking him on the face outside the Star Hotel on January 31 last year.
The court was told that the two men attended a party at the hotel.
Fiscal depute Roderick Urquhart said: “There was some kind of disagreement outside.
“Mr Mackenzie had consumed a large amount of alcohol and can remember nothing about it.
“But witnesses said they saw a commotion and scuffling involving the accused and Mr Mackenzie, who slumped to the ground on his hand and knees. Then witnesses saw Hilson kick him on the head.
“As a consequence, he suffered multiple fractures to his cheek and had to have surgery for the insertion of a metal plate. In the short term, he suffered from double vision.”
Sheriff Margaret Neilson deferred sentence until March 13 for a background report.
