A Cromarty man was fined a total of £400 after he admitted assaulting his brother, his mother and step-father in a drunken Christmas row in the family home.
At Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday, Christopher Mackay, 20, 76 Townlands Park, Cromarty, admitted the three assaults and racially abusing a policeman, which occurred on Boxing Day, 2013.
Fiscal Stella Swan said: “He and his 16-year-old brother were talking about girlfriends when he suddenly punched him.
“His mother came in to the bedroom and he pushed her to the ground before attempting to punch his stepfather.”
Defence solicitor Alison Foggo said: “He deeply regrets his behaviour. He was pretty drunk and doesn’t remember what the argument was about.
“He has been on bail for a year and has been prevented from contacting his family. He has been staying with his sister.
“He has stopped drinking spirits and seeks to make amends with his family who say the incident is long forgotten.”
