A north-east restaurant boss is due to stand trial accused of threatening a man with a hammer.
Syed Hamid, known as Raj, is alleged to have shouted at another man while brandishing a hammer in a threatening manner at a property in Portlethen earlier this month.
The 48-year-old, who is head chef and owner of the Carron to Mumbai restaurant in Stonehaven, denies the charges against him.
They state that he shouted, acted aggressively and brandished a hammer at a man in a property on Thistle Drive on October 3 this year.
Hamid appeared in the dock at Aberdeen Sheriff Court where he pled not guilty to one charge of possession of a weapon and another of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
His solicitor Stuart Beveridge told the court Hamid was in the process of launching proceedings against the man involved in the alleged incident.
“The complainer in the case is a squatter at a property owned by my client,” the solicitor said. “He is about to try and get him evicted.”
Sheriff Morag McLaughlin set intermediate and trial diets for early next year.
Hamid was ordered not to approach the man in the charge meantime.
