A woman who vandalised her boyfriend’s Tesla because she was angry he wasn’t replying to her texts has been admonished by a sheriff.
Kamila Gaska scraped the white Model 3 long-range Tesla, which has an on-the-road-start price of £58,000, then confessed to her crime in a series of messages.
She appeared in the dock at Aberdeen Sheriff Court and admitted a vandalism charge.
The court was told how Gaska’s partner of four years was busy spending the day with his daughter so ignored her multiple texts on Thursday, October 13.
Fiscal depute Eabha Sweeney said the man had made plans to see Gaska, 39, the following night and was spending that day with his daughter.
“He went out with his child at which point he continued to receive a number of messages from the accused to which he didn’t reply,” she said.
“He received a further five texts and calls from her later that evening. He replied that he had been out with his daughter.”
Found ‘crisscrosses’ keyed on bonnet
This didn’t sit well Gaska, however, and the next day he woke up to marks across the car’s white exterior.
“His daughter noticed scratches on the handle of the passenger side of the car and directed her father to the damage who found various scratches along the door and bonnet including crisscross scratches on the bonnet,” the fiscal added.
Tesla cars have a Sentry Mode function, which detects suspicious motion when it’s parked and locked.
But that wasn’t required in this case as later that morning Gaska, a carer and mum-of-one, made various admissions over Whatsapp.
She wrote: “It’s okay. I did it. I will pay the consequences.”
Further messages stated: “I was drunk and angry.
“Why do you torture me?
“Is it important?
“It’s just a material thing.”
‘He didn’t answer and I scratched his car’
She later told police: “I tried to call him first – but he didn’t answer and I scratched his car.”
The pair are “obviously no longer together”, the court was told.
Sheriff Christine McCrossan questioned why Gaska had been brought before the court.
She said: “I’m surprised this is in court. I am sure there are other ways this could have been dealt with.”
Gaska, of Lee Crescent, Aberdeen, was admonished, meaning the conviction goes on her record, but she does not face any further punishment.
