The former head coach of a girls’ football club has appeared in court on charges of sexual offences against a child.
Lee Murray was arrested by police on the Dalcross Industrial Estate, near Inverness Airport, on Tuesday afternoon.
The 51-year-old was taken away by officers in connection with an alleged breach of bail conditions.
But he was subsequently charged under the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009.
The charges
Murray is accused of communicating indecently with an older child and causing an older child to look at a sexual image.
He appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court today and made no plea to the three charges.
Murray, whose address was given as Inverness, was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
He’ll reappear in court within the next eight days.
Thistle Girls FC
Murray was the head coach at Thistle Girls FC, which folded in February of this year.
The thriving club had grown to around 150 members after starting up in 2017 with just nine girls.
When its future was left in doubt earlier this year, the club was taken in to officially become part of Inverness Caledonian Thistle Women’s Football Club.
However, Lee Murray was not part of the transfer and has never had any involvement with Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
