A sexual predator who attacked a vulnerable woman while she was sleeping has been jailed after leaving his victim “shocked and disgusted”.
Gary Ellinsworth, 54, had offered to pick up the 22-year-old and drive her to a house in Inverness after she drank on a night out.
The High Court in Edinburgh heard that the woman fell asleep on a couch after arriving at the address.
Advocate depute Mark Mohammed said that, when the victim was intoxicated and sleeping, Ellinsworth performed an oral sex act on her.
The court heard that, when the sex attack victim learned of what had occurred, she was “shocked and disgusted by what he had done to her”.
More charges of indecent behaviour
Ellinsworth, formerly of Mackintosh Road in Inverness, admitted sexually assaulting the woman on an occasion between March 2016 and March 2017 while she was intoxicated and incapable of giving or withholding consent.
The court was told that Ellinsworth, who is unemployed, was a first-time offender who has never before served a prison sentence.
Ellinsworth also admitted two further charges of indecent behaviour towards a girl between 1997 and 2009.
During the abuse, he told the child victim that she had a “nice bum” and asked her questions of an intimate sexual nature.
He plied her with alcohol at a house in Inverness and sexually molested the underage teenager while she was heavily intoxicated.
Ellinsworth carried out indecent acts on the girl and also offered her cigarettes and money during his predatory behaviour towards the victim.
Remanded in custody
A judge told him that he had admitted three serious offences but said she would call for a background report to be prepared on him, ahead of sentencing, as he had never previously served a jail sentence.
Lady Haldane said Scottish Ministers would be informed of his conviction under legislation for the protection of vulnerable groups and placed him on the sex offenders register.
Defence solicitor advocate James Keegan KC reserved addressing the court in mitigation on behalf of Ellinsworth until a further hearing next month.
Ellinsworth was remanded in custody following Tuesday’s court appearance.
