A 24-year-old Smithton man was fined a total of £350 at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday after admitting two altercations with two different partners within two years.
Peter Macdonald, 25 Kenneth Place, pleaded guilty to assaulting Anne Murray in a house in Galloway Drive, on September 21, 2012 by pushing her to the ground and causing injury.
His solicitor Ken Ferguson said: “Both were intoxicated and there was a heated argument and violence on both sides. He has now modified his alcohol consumption.”
Macdonald also admitted behaving in a threatening manner and shouting and swearing at another partner, who was not named, in her home in Cameron Court, Smithton, in September 28 last year.
The court heard the unnamed woman was nine weeks pregnant at the time of the offence but the relationship ended because of his drinking.
Fiscal Stella Swan said: “He turned up at her door uninvited and there were words between them. He went away but returned and started shouting and swearing and banging on doors and windows.”
