A drink-driver who was found in a crashed car while almost five times the alcohol limit told police she was “on the sesh”.
Bonnie Cameron made the “stupid and impulsive decision” to take the vehicle without permission after a drinking session.
The 29-year-old’s driving quickly caught the attention of concerned members of the public, who contacted the police.
When officers arrived they found the car damaged and half mounted on the kerb before Cameron admitted to them she’d been “on the sesh”.
Fiscal depute Tom Procter told Aberdeen Sheriff Court that around 6.40pm on August 27 this year other road users became “concerned” at the manner of Cameron’s driving on the B977 Gauchill Road, Kintore.
They reported the matter to police who attended and found the car Cameron had been driving half on the kerb with damage to a front wheel and bumper.
Mr Procter said: “The accused was asked to alight and did so, immediately stating she was ‘on the sesh’.”
Additionally, she did not have a licence or insurance and had taken the vehicle without the consent of the owner.
Cameron smelled strongly of alcohol, was slurring her words and was unsteady on her feet.
Checks revealed she was only the holder of a provisional licence.
‘She has sought out further help to stop any further incidents’
Cameron, whose address was given as “caravan in field, Findon Park”, Findon Street, Portlethen, pled guilty to driving with 107 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath.
The legal limit is 22 microgrammes.
She also admitted taking and driving away the vehicle without consent, driving without insurance and driving while only the holder of a provisional licence without being accompanied by a qualified driver or displaying L plates.
Defence agent Jenny Logan explained her client had been “relatively new” to drinking and had been “unaware of her limits”.
She added: “She doesn’t even know why she was in the area.
“She tells me it was a stupid and impulsive decision.
“She informs me she has, since this, sought out further help to stop any further incidents like this from occurring.”
Sheriff Ian Wallace deferred sentence on Cameron until next month for reports.
She is banned from driving in the interim period.
