A man has been fined after he abused Aberdeen hospital workers who were trying to mend his injuries.
Ere ‘I Am Christ’ Grant was arrested by police after he lost his temper and berated staff at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for “asking him questions” about his injuries.
Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard the 35-year-old repeatedly swore at a nurse and verbally abused a doctor for five minutes as he tried to help him.
Grant had been brought to the hospital in an ambulance after being struck on the head with a weapon.
Fiscal depute Rebecca Thompson told the court that at around 11.20pm on April 26 last year Grant was brought to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
“Immediately the accused started shouting and swearing at staff upon his arrival at the hospital,” she said.
“As a nurse tried to tend to his head injury, the accused said: ‘stop asking me f****** questions and fix my f****** head’.
“He added: ‘I have been hit on the f****** head. Can’t you see I have been hit on the f****** head.'”
Grant then got up from a hospital bed and moved towards a member of staff in an aggressive manner.
His behaviour became so threatening that other members of staff had to be summoned to help the nurse treat Grant.
As he was being examined by a doctor, Ms Thompson told the court that Grant shouted at him for around five minutes.
When Grant was released from the hospital later that night, police officers were waiting to arrest him.
Grant pleaded guilty to one charge of acting in an aggressive manner towards hospital medical staff.
‘You should be thoroughly ashamed’
Defence agent Lynn Bentley told the court that her client had been brought to the hospital “because apparently someone had used a weapon against him”.
“He is apologetic and should not have behaved in that way to people who were just trying to assist him,” she said.
“He has subsequently apologised to the staff there.”
Handing down sentence, Sheriff William Summers told Grant: “Your behaviour was despicable.
“You should be thoroughly ashamed of how you behaved to these people.”
Sheriff Summers fined Grant, Manse Gardens, Turriff, a total of £380.
