An Aberdeen barber shop owner has been banned from the road after being clocked doing 74mph in a 30mph zone.
Daniel Cleavin was caught doing almost two-and-a-half times the speed limit on Causewayend in Aberdeen.
The 32-year-old, who runs The Cleavin Barber Club in Cove Bay, was driving his white Jaguar XF at the time on April 3 2019.
The hairdresser has now been handed a hefty fine and banned from driving after admitting the offence.
Fiscal depute Sean Ambrose told Aberdeen Sheriff Court: “On the date in question, during the course of their shift, police were carrying out static speed checks on the A96 Causewayend near Mounthooly roundabout in an unmarked police vehicle.
Cleavin appeared without a lawyer
“At approximately 7.50pm, the white Jaguar XF was seen travelling in lane two.
“Approaching the junction with Fraser Place, it was clearly travelling in excess of 30mph.”
Using their laser speed detection device, officers measured Cleavin’s speed at 74mph.
The car was stopped and Cleavin was found to be the driver.
Cleavin, of Whitecairns, pled guilty to a charge of dangerous driving.
Appearing without a solicitor to represent him, Cleavin did not offer an explanation for his driving, but said he had been going from the roundabout up the hill and that the roads were “quite empty”.
Sheriff Ian Wallace fined him £900 and banned him from driving for a year.
