An Aberdeen man has appeared in court after police found almost £100,000 of cannabis stashed in his city centre home.
Christopher Howie, 39, had been in custody over an unrelated matter when officers were made aware of intelligence that another person was storing their drugs at his flat.
A search warrant was swiftly executed and officers uncovered a number of packages with a maximum value of £99,510.
Fiscal depute Jennifer Pritchard told Aberdeen Sheriff Court Howie was taken into custody regarding an unrelated matter on January 18 2022.
She said: “Information was thereafter received that the majority of a known
individual’s drugs were being stored within a flat on Jasmine Terrace, the home address
of the accused.”
A search warrant was executed at 4.40pm on the same day, with officers using Howie’s key to gain entry.
Six vacuum bags containing cannabis were found within a cupboard, with a further vacuum bag discovered inside a holdall.
Mobile phones were also seized from the bedroom floor.
The total weight of the cannabis recovered was 6,636.1g, with a base value of just over £40,000, but with the potential to be worth up to £99,510.
Howie, of Jasmine Terrace, Aberdeen, pled guilty to being concerned in the supply of cannabis.
Sheriff Andrew Miller deferred sentence until next month for reports.
