A woman has been fined after throwing a phone off the head of a man after he made an “inappropriate” proposition.
Isla Schooler got into an argument with the man, who had not previously been known to her, after he made a suggestive comment at an address on Skene Street in Aberdeen.
Schooler, 25, shouted and swore at the older male after he invited her to join him in bed following a comment about her not liking younger men.
But matters escalated further when she threw a phone across the room at him, hitting him on the head and resulting in a trip to the hospital.
Fiscal depute Sean Ambrose told Aberdeen Sheriff Court the incident happened around 3.30am on September 30.
‘Not a pleasant situation for her to find herself in’
He said the complainer had been lying on a sofa-bed when he heard Schooler, who was in conversation in the open-plan kitchen area, state: “I don’t like younger guys.”
Mr Ambrose said: “The complainer turned around and stated ‘so you only like older men’.
“The accused immediately became aggressive and made reference to a previous incident.
“The accused began shouting and swearing at the complainer and this went on for approximately five minutes.”
Mr Ambrose said the man then turned away, although this is disputed by the defence, and Schooler threw a phone at him, striking him on the crown of his head.
The incident left the man with a 1.5cm laceration to his head which had to be surgically glued shut at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
‘Degree of provocation’
Schooler, of Aulton Court, Aberdeen, pled guilty to assault to injury.
Defence agent Stuart Murray said: “There’s a little bit more to it than that.
“What the complainer actually said, while lying on the bed and while making a motion for my client to get in the bed beside him, was ‘so you like older guys then’ – him being an older man.
“She feels that was entirely inappropriate.”
Mr Murray said there was a “degree of provocation” and it was “not a pleasant situation for her to find herself in”.
Sheriff Morag McLaughlin fined Schooler £395.
