A drunken man threw his friend to the ground and booted him in the head twice before strolling away leaving him seemingly unconscious.
Ariel Fiszer carried out the “shocking” drink-fuelled attack at Grandholm Court in Aberdeen.
The 43-year-old was so intoxicated at the time that he has no memory of what they were arguing about – but said the pair were still good friends.
Fiscal depute Lydia Ross showed Aberdeen Sheriff Court harrowing CCTV footage of the vicious assault.
‘Little to no recollection of the assault at all’
She added: “The complainer was assessed by paramedics. They determined that he was likely to have suffered a broken nose.”
He also had minor cuts and cruises but refused medical treatment.
The incident happened on August 27 2020.
Fiszer, of Donside Court, Aberdeen, pled guilty to assault to injury.
Defence agent Shane Campbell said: “The accused and complainer, who were and remain good friends despite this particular incident, were both heavily intoxicated at the time.
‘My immediate reaction when I saw the footage was shock and concern’
“They had been drinking for a substantial period of time at the accused’s flat and then at a friend’s flat.”
Mr Campbell said his client had “little to no recollection of the assault at all”.
He went on: “It’s clear to see from the footage there’s a verbal dispute between the two.
“That then turns physical.”
The solicitor said the offence was “out of character” and emphasised that “drink played a substantial role”.
Sheriff Philip Mann told Fiszer: “I have to say, my immediate reaction when I saw the CCTV footage was one of shock and concern because it was clearly a vicious assault involving two substantial kicks to the head which apparently left the victim unconscious and you simply walked away.”
As a direct alternative to custody, Sheriff Mann imposed a two-year suspension order and an 11-month curfew.
