A driver has been allowed to keep his licence despite hitting a cyclist, sending him crashing onto the bonnet in Aberdeen city centre.
Kenneth Menegbo, 33, failed to spot the cyclist as he made his way along Hadden Street between Exchange Street and Market Street.
And by the time he did, there was not enough time to react and the pair collided head-on.
The collision sent the biker crashing off his bicycle, landing on the car and then sliding off onto the ground.
Fiscal depute Tom Procter told Aberdeen Sheriff Court the incident happened around 6.15pm on February 14 last year.
He said the cyclist had been riding down Market Street and turned right into Hadden Street.
Driver handed fine and points
As he made his way down the road, Menegbo was driving in the other direction and was too far into the other side of the road.
Mr Procter said there was “not enough time” for either party to stop and the bike and car collided.
The collision knocked the cyclist off his bike, causing him to land on the bonnet of Menegbo’s car and then on the road.
He did not suffer any serious injuries.
Menegbo, of Duff Street, Aberdeen, pled guilty to a charge of careless driving.
Menegbo’s solicitor told the court his client had not seen the cyclist and that the road was “quite small”.
Sheriff Morag McLaughlin fined Menegbo £520 and imposed five penalty points.
