A brazen drug dealer who was dishing out heroin in broad daylight on Union Street was arrested after suspicions were raised by an eagle-eyed shopper.
Jordi Simpson was spotted loitering outside the doorway of a shop and passing some of his Class A stash to a friend, Aberdeen Sheriff Court was told.
A member of the public saw the drugs changing hands and flagged down a passing police officer.
Fiscal depute Tom Procter said the 26-year-old was caught at around 10.40am on February 24 this year.
Dealt drugs on shopping street
“The result of the search was a bag of seven wraps of heroin and a further two wraps in his pocket,” Mr Procter said.
“He was also in possession of a lock knife and £30 cash. He was cautioned, arrested and taken into custody. The drugs were tested and found to be nine grams of heroin with a value of £450.
Simpson, of Victoria Road, Aberdeen, admitted being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug and possession of a knife.
Defence agent Neil McRobert said his client had “not long purchased” the drugs that morning for £135.
Said he received ‘no payment’
“He admitted he was passing on a wrap or wraps to one of his friends on Union Street, but at that time a member of the public alerted a passing police officer about what there appeared to be being handed over.
“He had purchased them for himself but was passing one or two to his friend, he tells me for no payment.”
Sheriff Margaret Hodge granted forfeiture of the knife, called for background reports and will sentence Simpson next month.
