A Fraserburgh man has been fined after he hurled racist abuse at his dad’s new Ukrainian neighbours.
Ryan Watt shouted and swore at them before declaring “F*** the Ukrainians” as he battered on their locked door on December 28 last year.
Fiscal depute Jane Spark told Peterhead Sheriff Court how Watt had turned up at the St Andrew’s Street property in Fraserburgh in an agitated state and attempting to enter uninvited.
“He shouted ‘f*** the Ukrainians’ and stepped backwards before the complainer was able to close the door,” she said.
“He then stepped forwards and loudly struck it before walking away.
“The witnesses were all Ukrainian.”
‘His behaviour was stupid’
Watt admitted a charge of threatening or abusive behaviour and uttering racist remarks.
His defence agent Marianne Milligan said his behaviour got “out of hand” and he accepts it was “stupid”.
“One the day in question he had gone over to his dad’s house,” she said. “He was aware there was a problem between his dad and his neighbours as that had been discussed with him.
“Things got out of hand and he acted in the manner libelled. He accepts his behaviour was out of hand and stupid.”
Sheriff David Harvie handed Watt, of St Andrew’s Drive, Fraserburgh, a £210 fine.
